Role Overview:
The role of the General Manager is to work in close collaboration with the Hockey One Board and League Council to ensure the overall strategic and operational delivery of this major national, premier hockey competition. Ensuring the efficient day to day management of the competition platform and supporting services to roll out this major event. The General Manager will lead the development of the short, medium and long-term growth strategy for the League. The General Manager will be responsible for managing commercial partnerships, the broadcaster arrangements, marketing & communication, and the wide-ranging League stakeholders

Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business or Sports Administration or equivalent.
  • Minimum (10) years’ experience in a related field of employment.
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of sports leagues or events
  • Previous Senior Management experience (CEO or Senior Executive/GM) is highly regarded.
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement skills including strong liaison, interpersonal and negotiating skills with the Board, Corporate partners, Government, and Member Associations.
  • Strong capacity to lead the strategic vision and creative programming of events, coupled with an understanding of the long-term goals of the wider organisation.
  • Strong and demonstrated ability to manage the planning, co-ordination, delivery and evaluation of a semi-professional sports league.
  • Demonstrated experience managing the delivery of events with a focus on balancing broadcast requirements with engaging game day experience.
  • High level commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to prepare budgets and monitor financial performance.
  • Experience in managing commercial contracts and grants, ensuring compliance and reporting requirements are achieved.
